My Gillette Slim
My Gillette adjustable “Slim” razor was my first razor when i got into wetshaving. It is in surprisingly good condition for its age (L4 from 1966). At 71 grams, it is a significantly heavier than my other razors. It has considerable heft and is balanced much more toward the head of the razor; it is almost like a hammer so it is definitely a razor where you let the weight of the razor do the work.
After several weeks of shaving with my slim, i went out on the hunt for more razors. I picked up two razors for about $6-8 for the pair. I don’t remember the exact price. They cleaned up pretty nicely.
I acquired a fifties style Gillette super speed flair tip and a super speed red tip. The balance of both of these razors is similar and much more uniformly distributed over the entire razor. As such, when you shave with them you need to apply the razor gently to your face. You’re not bearing down, but there is some hand action required.
